Happy Halloween

Halloween was great. Nicole, T, Paige and Natalie came over for dinner. We had out traditional chili, cornbread, salad and donuts. Johnny and Brittany and Jaxson went to a friends party but stopped by afterwards. The grandkids were so dang cute. It was fun to see our kids and have some time with the grandkids. Paige is very shy and has not gone trick-or-treating before but her dad and her uncle Cody took her out and she caught on really fast. As soon as she realized that everyone was going to give her candy she was all for it. She told her dad he could go back home and her and Uncle Cody would catch up with him later...LOL

Seeing Jaxson in his first Halloween costume was fun. He was the cutest turtle I have ever seen. He played on the floor with grandpa and should us how he can scoot across the floor. He is growing so fast. He will be one year old next Sunday...wow...the time has gone by so fast.

Johnny and Brittany came by and brought one cute and tired little turtle with them. But after Grandpa took off his little shell and they started to play on the floor they both had a good time.Thanks for coming by guys, it was great to see you.

Yep...we gave out the good stuff. Full size candy bars. It's usually so cold and snowing or rainy that we don't get many kids so I bought the big candy bars. BUT...it was nice and warm out and we had a lot of kids. They were all talking about next year and how they would remember that I gave the good stuff....(groan)....what have I done to myself...LOL

A young woman was about to finish her first year of college.
Like so many others her age, she considered herself to be a very liberal Democrat, and was very much in favor of the redistribution of wealth.



She was deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch Republican, a
feeling she openly expressed. Based on the lectures that she had
participated in, and the occasional chat with a professor, she felt that
her father had for years harbored an evil, selfish desire to keep what he thought should be his.



One day she was challenging her father on his opposition to higher taxes
on the rich and the addition of more government welfare programs. The
self-professed objectivity proclaimed by her professors had to be the
truth and she indicated so to her father. He responded by asking how she
was doing in school. Taken aback, she answered rather haughtily that she had
a 4.0 GPA, and let him know that it was tough to maintain, insisting
that she was taking a very difficult course load and was constantly
studying, which left her no time to go out and party like other people
she knew. She didn't even have time for a boyfriend, and didn't really
have many college friends because she spent all her time studying.



Her father listened and then asked, "How is your friend Audrey doing?"
She replied, "Audrey is barely getting by. All she takes are easy classes,
she never studies, and she barely has a 2.0 GPA. She is so popular on
campus, college for her is a blast. She's always invited to all the
parties, and lots of times she doesn't even show up for classes because
she's too hung over."



Her wise father asked his daughter, "Why don't you go to the Dean's office
and ask him to deduct a 1.0 off your GPA and give it to your friend who
only has a 2.0. That way you will both have a 3.0 GPA and certainly that
would be a fair and equal distribution of GPA."


The daughter, visibly shocked by her father's suggestion, angrily fired
back, "That wouldn't be fair! I have worked really hard for my grades!
I've invested a lot of time, and a lot of hard work! Audrey has done next
to nothing toward her degree. She played while I worked my tail off!"



The father slowly smiled, winked and said gently.....
"Welcome to the Republican Party."

You Know You Are Getting Old When....

On Wednesday my daughter Nicole and I went shopping. We were in need of some mother-daughter time and what better way to spend it then shopping and dinner. We laughed a lot, tried on a million things, had a great dinner and caught up with what is going on in each others lives. We got some cute stuff and I let go of some of my ego with the boots...LOL

I love wearing boots in the winter. And I love the boots I had. But going back to work has made me realize my feet like the rest of me are getting older. I'm leaving the high heel to you younger ladies and now I am going for comfort! They are warm,soft and very comfortable and I think they are cute but very different than what I am used to.

We also discovered a store at Valley Fair Mall called 20/20......or at least I think that is the name. It goes up to size 20 and everything in it is $20.00 0r less. Does anyone else know about this store? And if so why didn't you tell me? They have some really cute stuff and nothing is over $20.00...Sweeeeet!

October Family Spotlight

Brittany is the family spotlight this month. She will also be celebrating a birthday on the 21st.

Brittany has just recently become a stay at home Mom and loves spending her day taking care of Jaxson.Before that she was a dental assistant for a dentist office. She loves being a wife and mother, spending time with all the new friends she has made since becoming a mom. Funny how that happens. Having a little one opens up a whole new world of friends and things to do and explore.

She is very talented with craft projects and decorating her home.Her kitchen cabinets look very high end and she did them all by herself.

We hope she enjoys this month and all the happy moments that come with it.
Even though her birthday is not until close to the end of the month we want to say.... HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRIT!

Going To The Doctor...YUCK!

Okay, so I went to the doctor. I have been sick and in a lot of pain for awhile but Scott and I didn't tell anyone except Natalie and Nicole. We figured most people don't want to know anyway...LOL

So, without going into a lot of detail I will just tell you I am sick, it is treatable but could get worse if I don't take care of myself. One of the major factors is stress......yep...stress.

Now we all have stress, some more than others. The last 4 years have been very stressful for me. Just when I get tricked into thinking things are going to get better they get worse. So I am on two kinds of medicine,and have to have more test. My question is....how in this day an age with all that we go through do we cut down on stress? If you have any ideas about cutting back on the stress in your life please share them.I'm tired of the pain, and feeling like this. I don't like the medicine it makes me want to throw up. So.....if you have any ideas that are constructive please send them my way.

Sunday Dinner

On Sunday T, Nicole, Paige, Natalie, Tammy and little Kayden came over for dinner. It was great to get to visit. With everyone working such crazy schedules it's sometimes hard to find a time for all of to get together and just hang out as a family.But we are lucky, they always have time for us to see them and our grandchildren. We had a great time guys...we love you!
